    In the same series

    • A woman in a vast pink crinoline reclining against a red couch in an oil painting, with YOU ARE AN ICON set across it in heavy cream type
    • A figure reclining in a pale yellow gown on a gilt chair against a deep brown-black ground, with a rough band of cornflower blue across the top and the head dissolving into it
    • A woman in a white empire-waist gown blowing a pink bubble in a Regency interior, holding an ice cream cone, with WHATEVER in pink brush script across the top
    • A faded painting of a meadow of small white flowers running back to red-roofed houses on a low horizon, overlaid with a grid of flat olive and cream dots
    • White lilies with yellow stamens painted against a deep brown ground, with flat yellow dots scattered across flowers and background alike
    • A young woman in a deep petrol blue dress reading a book in a wooden chair against a pale plaster wall, with READ MORE BOOKS in peach capitals across the skirt
    • A black and white photograph of two women at a bar table with beer bottles and a glass, the one on the left with a mirror ball in place of her head

Surreal Toast Portrait takes a formal oil portrait, with its dark coat, white cravat and soft black cap, and replaces the face with a slice of toast. One eye looks out through a torn hole in the bread, and that single detail turns the joke back into a portrait. Everything else is handled with complete seriousness: the greys and browns of the original are left intact, the fabric still catches light the way it should, and the sitter keeps their composure. The palette is muted enough to hang anywhere, which makes the surprise land better. It is a conversation piece that works on a second look rather than a first.

    Styling tips

Black keeps the portrait formal and lets the toast do the work, while a warm white frame leans into the humour. It could work well in a kitchen, a hallway or anywhere guests pass and look twice. Pair it with cane, pale wood and off-white textiles, since the palette is already soft. Hung at eye level the eye in the bread meets the viewer, which is most of the point.

    Size guide

The size of our posters always refers to the actual paper size — not the motif. Some posters include a white border that frames the artwork, similar to a passepartout. Where this is the case, it will be noted in the product description and is also visible in the product images.

Our sizes in cm and inches:

    • 21x30 cm / 8.3x11.8"

    • 30x40 cm / 11.8x15.7"

    • 40x50 cm / 15.7x19.7"

    • 50x50 cm / 19.7x19.7"

    • 50x70 cm / 19.7x27.6"

    • 70x100 cm / 27.6x39.4"

When choosing a frame, make sure to match it to the poster size. Our frames are designed to fit our posters exactly — a 50x70 cm poster takes a 50x70 cm frame. No trimming or adjusting needed.

We offer a wide range of sizes to suit any wall, from smaller formats perfect for shelves and art walls, to larger statement pieces that anchor a room. Not sure which size is right for your space? Feel free to contact us — we're happy to help.

    Material

Our posters are printed on 200 g/m² premium matte paper made from FSC® Mix Credit Paper 100%. The paper is archive-proof, meaning it won't yellow over time, and all printing is done in modern facilities with ISO 14001 certification.

Our frames come in a variety of colours and materials, all ethically sourced and produced with care for people and the environment. Available in multiple sizes to suit any wall and any home. If you have any questions about our products, don't hesitate to reach out to our customer support team.

    The Art Concept

Founded by a Polish illustrator, The Art Concept Gallery is an online destination for a whimsical journey through the artistry of old masters reborn in a contemporary embrace. The gallery is a fusion of classical masterpieces from the Renaissance to Realism, each piece revitalised with a modern twist that transcends the boundaries of time. Alongside this runs a thread built on pattern and form, where checkered vases, polka-dotted blooms, and richly spotted creatures turn an earthy, muted palette into more graphic, decorative territory. Across the collection, the balance between reverence for classical craftsmanship and a light, playful sense of humour gives each piece its own distinct character.
