The right size is what makes a print look like it belongs. Too small and it gets lost on the wall, too big and it takes over the room. This guide goes through every size we make, from A4 to 100x140 XL, with simple rules for the sofa, the bed and the gallery wall – and how frames and mat boards fit in.
In short
Six rectangular sizes from 21x30 to 100x140 cm and four square from 40x40 to 100x100 cm, shown here to scale so you can see how big the step is from one size to the next. Click a size to see every poster in it.
Most walls have something in front of them – a sofa, a bed, a sideboard – and that is what the art relates to. A simple rule: let the art, or the group of art, cover about two-thirds to three-quarters of the width of the furniture below.
Measure the furniture, multiply by 0.66 and 0.75, and you have the width to aim for. Then choose one large print or a group that adds up to that width, with 5–8 cm between the frames.
| Furniture | Width | Aim for | Our suggestion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nightstand | 50 cm | 25–38 cm | One 21x30 or 30x40 |
| Sideboard or dresser | 100 cm | 65–75 cm | One 70x100, or two 30x40 side by side |
| Desk | 120 cm | 80–90 cm | Two 40x50 side by side |
| Single bed | 90 cm | 60–68 cm | Two 30x40, or one 50x70 for a calmer look |
| Double bed | 140–180 cm | 95–135 cm | One 100x100, or two 50x70 |
| Small sofa | 160–180 cm | 105–135 cm | Two 50x70, or three 40x50 |
| Large sofa | 200–240 cm | 135–180 cm | Two 70x100, or one 100x140 as a statement |
The widths are for the posters themselves – the frames add a little. A single XL print can be narrower than the rule and still hold the wall, because the size does the work. Our guide to hanging wall art covers the height and spacing.

A single large print gives the room a calm, clear focal point. A group adds rhythm and lets you mix motifs, colours and sizes. Whichever you choose, treat a group as one large piece: measure the whole group against the furniture, not each frame on its own.
Proportions matter more than you might think. 21x30, 50x70 and 70x100 have almost the same proportions, about 1:1.4, so they line up neatly in a grid. 30x40 and 40x50 are a little squarer, which suits a looser, salon-style mix. Four combinations that work, drawn to scale above the furniture they suit:
One 50x70 in the middle with two 30x40 and two 21x30 around it. About 120 cm wide – right for a 160–180 cm sofa.
Four 30x40 in two even rows, about 65 cm wide, above a 90–100 cm sideboard or desk. Six 21x30 work the same way.
Two 70x100 side by side, about 145 cm wide – made for a 200–220 cm sofa or a wide bed.
One 40x50, one 30x40 and one 40x40 square in a loose row, about 120 cm wide, above a 160–180 cm sideboard.
Start with the largest print, hang it at eye level and build outwards from there, keeping the same 5–8 cm between all the frames. Or start from one of our ready-made gallery walls, with every print, frame and size already chosen.
Portrait formats lift the eye and make a ceiling feel higher, which is why they suit low furniture and narrow walls. Landscape motifs follow the length of a sofa, bed or dining table. Squares feel calm and balanced, and they are the easiest way to break up a row of portrait prints.
Our frames are made to fit our posters exactly: a 50x70 poster fits a 50x70 frame. Choose "Add frame" on the poster's product page and you get both in the same order. A mat board is the same size as the frame, and the poster inside it is one size smaller:
Mat boards aren't available for 100x100 and 100x140. Our XL frames in those sizes are sold together with the poster – we mount it and deliver it ready to hang. Read more in our guide to mat boards.
Cut out paper in the sizes you're considering, or mark them on the wall with painter's tape, and look at them from where you usually sit or stand. It takes five minutes and saves you from guessing. If you're torn between two sizes, go for the larger one – art is far more often too small than too big.
Our rectangular sizes are 21x30, 30x40, 40x50, 50x70, 70x100 and 100x140 cm, and our square sizes are 40x40, 50x50, 70x70 and 100x100 cm.
Almost. A4 measures 21 x 29.7 cm, and an A4 print fits a 21x30 cm frame. Our 21x30 posters and frames are the A4 format.
50x70 cm is our most popular size, and 30x40 cm is another favourite. Both work almost anywhere, on their own or in a gallery wall.
Aim for art that is about 135–150 cm wide in total: two 70x100 side by side, or a gallery wall of the same width. If you want a single print, 100x140 XL makes the biggest impact.
Yes. Our frames are made to fit our posters exactly – a 50x70 cm poster fits a 50x70 cm frame. With a mat board, the poster is one size smaller than the frame.
The poster is delivered without a frame, unless you choose "Add frame" on the product page. Then you get the poster and the frame in the same order. XL frames in 100x140 and 100x100 are mounted by us and delivered ready to hang.
