  • A World Of Floral And Form By La Poire

La Poire is the creative alias of Danish artist and graphic designer Anine Cecilie Iversen, whose work blends a deep sense of emotion with bold visual expression. Based in Copenhagen, she creates pieces that celebrate femininity through flowing silhouettes, playful florals, and rich, intuitive colour palettes. Her art draws on influences from modernism, fashion, and nature—but just as much from inner moods and quiet reflections. Each painting is a personal moment, translated into form and pigment, inviting the viewer into a world that is both contemporary and poetic. For Postery, La Poire presents a collection that feels fresh, tactile, and full of soul—where every brushstroke carries both softness and strength.

Welcome to Postery! How are you?

Thank you - I’m very well and excited for this new collaboration with Postery!

Tell us about yourself and how you got started with art.

My name is Anine Cecilie Iversen, 36, I’m a self taught artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. I grew up in the countryside in the middle of Zealand, in a little town surrounded by fields and lovely nature, which has definitely given me a love for painting motives from the natural world. However I moved to the capital in my early twenties and have lived there since.

I started painting very early - my dad introduced me to drawing and painting with watercolours when I was just a few years old. I have been drawing and painting more or less since, but especially in the recent years I have intensified my practice. I used to work as a graphic designer after graduating from KEA (Cph Business Academy) with a BA in Digital Concept Development. However, in the past years I felt a need to develop my artistic practice and my love for painting and drawing by hand, and in the beginning of 2022 I took the leap and became a full time artist.

What are your main sources of inspiration?

I am very drawn to natural, floral arrangements and people, especially the female figure. My work is a study in colour and organic shapes - I love colours, and how they can uplift and complement each other. I love finding nuances in everything in general, and I always create from my intuition and inner feelings.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?

I think my biggest artistic influence is Matisse - from a very early age I was introduced to modern French art by my father who is an art teacher. We would often visit impressionist/post impressionist museums in Europe such as Musée d’Orsay in Paris. I remember being handed a pile of the most wonderful Matisse postcards as a child, and being immediately in love. I especially remember being fascinated with the vibrant colours, which still inspires me a lot. I also love the works of Pierre Boncompain, Florine Stettheimer and Karl Isaksson.

What does art mean to you?

Art means the freedom to express my feelings and thoughts through a language of colours and shapes, and for me it is a way of processing and understanding the ups and downs of life. Art’s also a possibility to delve into another state of mind and complete focus.

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

As an artist I feel a need to renew and improve my abilities constantly, which can be both a blessing and a bit of a curse, as it can cause pressure which can be challenging at times. At the same time the possibility of always improving and learning is one of the best parts about being an artist.

How do you manage a work-life balance as an artist?

It can be difficult, when you are lucky enough to do what you love the most for a living. But it is a process to learn to balance, and I am learning as I go - for example, this year I am taking an actual summer holiday for the first time since I started, at the same time I am blessed to have the freedom to plan my everyday life exactly as I want to.

Describe how art is important to society.

I think that the possibility to express our feelings through art, in a world where we are exposed to so many impressions from the media and where so many people are suffering, it can work as a sort of haven from worries and fears. In extension to this, art in it self can really bring us together and create resonation and joy - from the process of creating to sharing our art with each other.

    Where do you live/reside?

    I live in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Does your residential place has an impact on your art?

Physically, I mostly take inspiration from the nature surrounding me, but also I am lucky to live in a country with a great tradition for freedom of expression. In Denmark, we are very free in general to seek out our own happiness and express our personalities at many levels, and I think this has had an impact on my way of thinking and creating.

When is your favourite time of day to create?

In the middle of the day, when I’m fully awake and when the natural light is the brightest!

How do you see your prints in an interior setting?

In a natural and colourful interior, maybe a bit retro. But generally, I love seeing my art in various styles of interior and seeing it styled in different settings always fascinates me.

What do you like doing when you are not creating?

I love spending time with my family, friends and my dog, Fanny. I also love cooking, and exploring the many great opportunities Copenhagen has to offer - the food scene here is amazing! I also love to sew and make my own clothes, and recently I’ve started doing embroidery too which is a lot of fun.

What will we never find in your home?

Anything fake; wood, marble, stone, synthetic fabrics. I love natural materials!

What is your current obsession and why?

I’ve recently done a collaboration of creating hand painted patterns for fabrics and interior objects, which has sparked a new interest in working with these elements in my paintings as well, eg. table cloths, wall papers and such.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It is very hard to just choose one song, but maybe Blonde in the Bleachers or All I Want by my favourite musician Joni Mitchell.

    Thank you, Anine!
