Waves and Sun is a Kamisaka Sekka woodblock design in which two cream swells rise across a flat teal sea, their crests drawn out into curling fingers and edged with a dull silver that catches like wet foam. Behind the larger wave a pale silver disc sits low and half covered, standing in for a sun that never fully appears. The colour is laid in broad unshaded areas with the grain of the paper left visible, and the drawing is reduced to outline and silhouette. The design comes from Sekka's Momoyogusa albums and is built on flat pattern rather than depth.

    Styling tips

Light oak could work well here, since it warms the teal and sits inside the Japanese palette. A thin black frame sharpens the outlines if you want more contrast. Above a bed the horizontal format settles the wall rather than filling it. It pairs nicely with linen, paper shades and ceramics in grey or sand.

    Size guide

The size of our posters always refers to the actual paper size — not the motif. Some posters include a white border that frames the artwork, similar to a passepartout. Where this is the case, it will be noted in the product description and is also visible in the product images.

Our sizes in cm and inches:

    • 21x30 cm / 8.3x11.8"

    • 30x40 cm / 11.8x15.7"

    • 40x50 cm / 15.7x19.7"

    • 50x50 cm / 19.7x19.7"

    • 50x70 cm / 19.7x27.6"

    • 70x100 cm / 27.6x39.4"

When choosing a frame, make sure to match it to the poster size. Our frames are designed to fit our posters exactly — a 50x70 cm poster takes a 50x70 cm frame. No trimming or adjusting needed.

We offer a wide range of sizes to suit any wall, from smaller formats perfect for shelves and art walls, to larger statement pieces that anchor a room. Not sure which size is right for your space? Feel free to contact us — we're happy to help.
