You are an Icon Poster

You are an Icon lays three words of heavy sans-serif type over an oil portrait of a woman in a vast pink crinoline, reclining against a red couch. The letters are cropped by the edges of the sheet and sit in the gaps the dress leaves open, so painting and type share the same space rather than one covering the other. The original brushwork stays visible throughout, thick ridges of pink and black lace rendered in a few loaded strokes. The contrast between the romance of the painting and the flatness of the type is the whole idea.

Black keeps the typography graphic, while a warm white frame lets the pink dress lead. It works in a dressing area, a hallway or above a desk, anywhere the message has someone to read it.
