Mat Board Black

Create the perfect fit for your poster with our high-quality black mat board, also known as a passepartout. Designed with a precise 45° bevel cut, it adds a stylish and elegant transition between your artwork and the frame. When selecting your mat board, choose the size that matches your frame — the outer measurement is your frame size. The window measurement shown in the size selector tells you which poster size fits inside.

A passe-partout is a cut cardboard mat that sits inside your frame, surrounding your print with a wide border that creates visual distance from the glass and gives the artwork a more finished, gallery-like presentation. The black version is one of the most dramatic choices — the deep border creates a strong contrast that makes colourful prints pop and gives black-and-white photography an almost cinematic quality. It works particularly well in a home office or living room with a slim black or dark wood frame, where the all-dark combination feels sleek and considered. For a more unexpected look, try it with a white or natural oak frame — the contrast between the light frame and dark mat creates a graphic effect that feels contemporary and design-forward.
