Red Cherries Poster

Red Cherries sets a terracotta bowl of dark wine-red cherries on a warm brown table, with a few more scattered around it and a soft grey wall behind. The paint is laid on in short, visible strokes and the whole surface stays matte, closer to a study than a finished still life — which is a large part of its charm. Earth tones carry it: terracotta, umber, oxblood and sand, with small white highlights on the fruit. It brings warmth to a kitchen or a dining corner without asking for much attention. Good in a small size above a shelf, or larger over a table.

Oak could work well here, echoing the warm browns and keeping the whole thing soft. It pairs nicely with linen, cream stoneware and green glass — the kind of table that already has something on it. Above a dining table it sets a quiet tone, and in a small size it works on a kitchen shelf leaned against the wall. Try it alongside another still life in the same earthy range if you want a pair.
