Icy Dune Poster

Icy Dune is an aerial photograph of a braided glacial river in Iceland, flown high enough that the silt flats read as pale celadon dunes rather than as water. Dark channels cut through them, and where each one fans out the braiding breaks into a row of fine teeth that holds the only sharp detail in the picture. A warm yellow glow sits along the top edge and keeps the cool greens from turning cold. Everything else is soft, almost airbrushed, and the scale stays hidden until you are told what it is. A visible margin frames the artwork and adds to the calm of the composition.

Light oak could work well here, since it warms the green without competing with the yellow. A thin white frame keeps the whole thing airy if the wall is already pale. Above a desk or a bed the wide format settles the room rather than filling it. It pairs nicely with sage, warm off whites and furniture in pale wood or black steel.
