Artist talk: Anastacia Sholik
We introduce the colourful and brilliant artist and illustrator Anastacia Sholik, based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her art lives in a universe of its own presented to the viewer in a bold and distinct colour palette. Her compositions are playful and intriguing and invite you to a sophisticated rainbow setting that is both harmonious and eye-catching.
What’s your artistic background?
I worked in different industries while searching my way - post-production, broadcast design, game design, and children’s book illustration. I’ve been a freelance illustrator and artist since 2014.
How did you get passionate about art?
I’ve been drawing since childhood, and all my hobbies were always near art until I became an illustrator.
What’s most important to you in the creative process?
To have a comfortable place and freedom to express my vision and ideas.
What’s your source of inspiration?
Nature, home, people and mostly my kids and their view of the world.
How do your surroundings affect your art?
A lot. Most of my time is spent with kids now. And it is very interesting to see how they see things for the first time, how they draw, and how they think.
What do you like doing when you are not creating?
I like walking a lot or being with my family.
What will we never find in your home?
Gold stucco and minimalism.
What do you love other than art?
Walking, travelling, solitude, coffee.
What do you dream of?
All my dreams have become goals to follow.
Name one thing you can´t do without while creating?
My head and hands : )
What are your plans for the future?
Continue improving my skills (it’s never enough), creating more art for interior products like cushions and blankets, and painting pictures.
Thank you, Anastacia!
