Polka Dot Pumpkin Poster

A ribbed pumpkin form fills the sheet, every segment covered in rows of black dots that grow and shrink with the swell of the body. Between the dotted bands run narrow channels of fine wavy line work, which gives the surface a second texture at close range. The ground is the same black net laced with orange as its companion piece, so the two read as a set. Scale is left ambiguous: it could be a gourd on a table or a sculpture in a square. The pattern never repeats exactly.

Stronger and odder than most autumn prints, and all the better for it in a study or a living room with some personality. The black ground means it wants a pale wall to sit against, and it hangs naturally beside the dotted vase from the same hand as a vertical pair. A black frame makes it a single block; white or light oak separates the artwork from the wall. It needs a little space around it to avoid looking busy.
